About

I came to Gestalt Psychotherapy after a decade of teaching yoga and meditation workshops in Canada, Greece, Mexico and Nicaragua. I noticed that wisdom practices (such as meditation, yoga, breath-work, and reflection) lead people to face vulnerability and perhaps even pain inside their minds, hearts and bodies. Many people have insights about themselves, but they believe they can mentally figure it out on their own. We are not meant to do all the processing on our own. The therapeutic relationship allows us the support of a compassionate and trained witness so we can explore what is present.

My orientation has always been towards practices that lead to presence and connection to self. I combine teachings from the Zen tradition, movement practices, and Gestalt therapy to support individuals in a deeper exploration of themselves and their environments. My approach is self-compassionate and trauma-informed.

In each session, you can clarify what specific aspect you would like to explore today and that can change as you wish. I will consistently check in and make sure it is ok for you to continue. I will ask questions like: How are you feeling as you speak about this? What are your beliefs here? Would you like to try an experiment?

I have been described as a therapist that offers a place that feels wide and safe to explore all sorts of sensations and feelings. We will co-create an open space that offers challenge and responsibility for the client as well. My method is honesty and presence; there are no hidden tricks but I do believe in magic and sensory work and the power of true, authentic presence.

My long-time zen practice, meditation practice, yoga and wisdom practices do influence my work. In my own life, I practice daily as an invitation of the mysterious into my work. If this way of working sounds interesting to you (or speaks to you), please contact me to book a free consultation.

I have experience working in group therapy settings and one-on-one therapy.
